Photo shoot 1

Today, I got Lochrann Urquhart and Lewis Tyler to be my models for my magazine. For this I need to dress them up slightly, I also had to direct them, as in, where to look, where to stand, their body language, etc, I also had to make sure the lighting was decent, so I sometimes used the flash. I found that the flash created a lot of contrast, between my models and the background, and the mid-ground. the background is a deeper blue/grey, the mid-ground is more of a silhouette against the background, adding a scary effect. I also like the pictures where everything is lighter, it looks like there is a filter on it already, and the camera has totally unfocused on the background, giving a grungy effect. I tried different shots, such as long mid shots, mid shots, long shots and a few close ups. I used different camera angles to try and portrait my models differently. I got my models to seem as menacing as possible, to fit with my genre, so I got them to stand arms crossed or in their pockets, even thought that may seem like I wasn't bothered to tell them what to do, it gives a feel as if its all mysterious, because we don't know what they have in their hands. The grey weather in some of the pictures gives a horror feel to is, and reflects the genre to which my audience will appreciate. In a few pictures you can see I have used the rule of thirds and depth of field to help focus the reader. In the background, there are vein like tree branches, churches or just a very dark background. the trees give a demonic feel, as if evil is crawling over the page, and the church is ironic, as metal magazines tend to have satanic insinuations, and the dark background gives a dark feel, which is representative of the music and the audience.
